Notary FAQ

Before your appointment

A current, government-issued photo ID — driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID. The name on the ID must reasonably match the name on the document. Expired identification cannot be accepted.
For an acknowledgment, yes — the signer simply has to appear and acknowledge that the signature is theirs. For a jurat, the signer must sign in the notary's presence and swear to the contents. Wait for us if you are unsure which one your document needs.
Yes. The signer must be conscious, able to communicate, and acting willingly, and must have valid identification or credible witnesses. Facilities often require advance clearance, so call as early as you can.
We can help coordinate the notarization and submission or courier steps for eligible Tennessee documents. The Tennessee Secretary of State or other appropriate government authority issues the apostille or authentication; we do not issue it, choose documents, or guarantee acceptance.
Yes. Tennessee notaries public may solemnize marriages. The couple must first obtain a valid Tennessee marriage license and bring it to the ceremony; call to confirm the date, location, and ceremony preferences.
No — a notary who is not an attorney cannot advise on what a document should say or which form to use. We can explain what the notarial certificate requires and identify pages that are missing signatures or dates.
Tennessee law entitles a notary to a reasonable fee for each notarial act; mobile service, printing, and scan-backs are quoted separately based on distance, package size, and timing. You will always have the total in writing before we schedule.
Twenty-four hours is comfortable; same-day requests are frequently accommodated. If a funding deadline is at risk, call rather than email — we will tell you honestly whether we can make it.
